Produced by Tallinn-based animation studio A Film Estonia, Crazy Christmas Glitch (previously titled Christmas in the Boonies) marks a new addition to Mediatoon Distribution’s expanding catalogue of premium content for kids and family audiences.
On Christmas Eve, Peter reunites with his friends to celebrate at a country manor. Their party is cut short when an eccentric Robot Santa starts tampering with their wish lists; convinced beetroots are the best gift! To get Christmas back on track, the kids must band together as Santa sends two of them into a dysfunctional AI world, while another steps into the Frog Kingdom.
Animated in full 3D, Crazy Christmas Glitch (30’) stands out for its distinctive visual style and tone. Blending offbeat humor with a hint of spookiness, the special is set to engage family audiences with an unconventional take on Christmas traditions and an ironic reflection on modern technology.
Crazy Christmas Glitch brings back the characters from The Photo That Came to Life, a 13-minute animated short also produced by A Film Estonia and selected for more than 20 international festivals.
This acquisition comes alongside the recent addition of Blooming Wonders (26 x 6’), produced by Miyu Productions, to the distributor’s line-up. Also selected in competition at Annecy in the TV Series category, the series further strengthens Mediatoon’s presence at the festival. The collaboration follows Média-Participations Group’s recent stake in Miyu Productions, reinforcing ties with leading independent animation players.
With these new titles, Mediatoon Distribution continues to broaden its editorial approach by integrating high-quality third-party productions and offering a diverse line-up to international partners.
“We are particularly proud to represent both a series and a TV special in competition this year, each with its own unique DNA,” said Morgann Favennec, Deputy Managing Director of Mediatoon Distribution. “It perfectly illustrates our ambition at Mediatoon Distribution: to build a line-up that combines the strength of our in-house productions with carefully curated gems from external producers.”
