Ellipse Animation and Belvision announce the extension of Nickelodeon’s rollout of The Marsupilamis (52×11’) to the U.S. market, following a successful international launch across its networks worldwide.

The agreement marks a major milestone in the international release of the series, which has already launched with audiences across multiple territories following Nickelodeon’s initial global acquisition, alongside a strong network of local partners including M6/Gulli in France, RTBF and VRT in Belgium, RTS in Switzerland and Radio-Canada.

This announcement comes amid a growing interest in the beloved European IP in North America, recently illustrated by Abrams’ publication in the US & Canada of a comic book volume inspired by the animated series.

Created over 70 years ago by the renowned Belgian author André Franquin, The Marsupilamis has become one of the most iconic characters in comic book history, having been adapted numerous times for television, cinema and videogames. With its 8-meter-long tail, unmissable spotted fur, and a distinctive language based on “Hoobah”, this unique creature has captured the imagination of kids and families across generations.

In the new animated series, the legendary Marsupilamis swap the wild Palombian jungle for an even wilder place: the city. There, twins Jade and Mica find their world turned upside down when their explorer parents entrust them with three mysterious Marsupilami eggs. Once they hatch, the siblings must get creative to keep their new friends hidden – after all, no one knows these energetic creatures exist, and predators could be lurking around every corner.

The series is directed by Célestine Plays, with head writing by Andrew Barnett Jones and Ciaran Murtagh and artistic direction by Guilhem Deckers. Mediatoon Distribution and Mediatoon Licensing, also part of Média-Participations powerhouse, handle international sales and consumer products.

Caroline Duvochel, Head of Audiovisual & Innovation of Média-Participations and Managing Director of Ellipse Animation:

We are thrilled to see THE MARSUPILAMIS continue its global rollout with its arrival in the U.S. This important milestone confirms our belief that these iconic characters can resonate with children and families all around the world. We thank the Nickelodeon team for thei trust, enthusiasm, and commitment to bringing our series to international audiences.
