South African company HoofStrike IP House arrives at MIFA with a slate of three fully developed projects, underscoring its commitment to original stories with an international scope. Featured in the Animation South Africa directory, the company operates between South Africa and Panama and focuses on creating content designed for multiple markets and platforms.
The lineup includes NAVA, a 20-episode animated series that follows the journey of a young Norwegian Forest Cat through civilizations that have lost the ability to listen; ELEPHANTOM, an animated feature inspired by the elephants of Knysna, South Africa, exploring the tension between reason and mystery; and ANNAPŪRNĀ, an animated feature centred on the return of a textile artist to her home island alongside a group of exiled weavers.
Founded by writer-producer Annerie Warrington, HoofStrike develops its projects around what it describes as the principle of “Grace Initiation” – the moment when a character stops relying on strategy and discovers a new direction for their journey.
All three projects have completed screenplays, while NAVA is backed by a broader transmedia strategy that includes potential gaming extensions, underscoring the international ambitions of the slate unveiled at Annecy.
