Among the emerging companies attending MIFA 2026 in Annecy is Black Mark Media, a young Moldova-based animation studio that has chosen the world’s leading animation market to present its slate of original projects.
With a strong focus on storytelling and visual experimentation, the studio’s productions emphasize emotional depth through highly expressive visuals, exploring universal themes through different creative approaches and animation techniques.
One of the featured titles is The Girl from the Shadow, a 2D animated short written and directed by Oleg Condrea: the project explores the delicate psychological boundary between self-care and self-sabotage, offering an intimate reflection on self-perception and the inner dynamics that shape personal well-being.
Alongside it, Black Mark Media is presenting Mie Tot, a hybrid film combining stop-motion and 2D animation: written and directed by Ana Colțuc, the project focuses on themes such as empathy, friendship, and human relationships, bringing together different artistic techniques to tell a heartfelt story.
Both projects are already building an international path thanks to the collaboration with Lihtar Studio as part of a French-Polish co-production, as well as the musical contribution of ATC Antartica.
During MIFA, Black Mark Media will be seeking new international partners, including co-producers, broadcasters, distributors, and VOD platforms interested in supporting and expanding the reach of original animated content.
