A brand-new annual event focused on European animation policy and a new forum for discussion. The Annecy European Animation Summit will bring European decision-makers and the industry together to articulate European ambitions, reinforce the European model, stimulate debate and foster a lasting dialogue.
Each year, it will provide a platform to explore themes such as European cultural sovereignty, platform regulation, competitiveness of the creative industries, and the role of animation in European audiovisual policy.
The global audiovisual industry is currently undergoing a radical transformation. Our European model is now under considerable pressure given the dominance of major studios, intensifying global competition, evolving technologies and diminishing public funding. Europe’s capacity to produce, fund and distribute its own material is now of paramount importance to its cultural, economic and technological sovereignty.
This inaugural edition of the Annecy European Animation Summit is set to be a game-changing event that will tackle pressing issues affecting the European animation industry. Conceived as a forum for public decision-makers, European institutions and industry professionals to engage in dialogue, it aims to foster a shared vision, strengthen the European animation model and encourage collective deliberation on the industry’s future.
This event will be a key opportunity for constructive dialogue between institutions and the sector, buoyed by the legitimacy and global visibility of the Festival and its Market. Furthermore, it will represent a breakthrough in establishing a European model and will set the stage for the future AgoraEU programme.
